A groundbreaking, highly illustrative new methodology for learning Chinese. Chineasy was founded by Taiwan-born entrepreneur ShaoLan Hsueh as a joint venture with Brave New World. We developed every aspect of the brand from the name and the identity to best-selling books and a complete digital world.
Brave New World had the idea of bringing the project to market as an art book instead of a conventional educational product and introduced ShaoLan to Lucas Dietrich, Head of Publishing at Thames & Hudson. Lucas jumped at the idea and commissioned the first book. The book is designed & art directed by Crispin Jameson and the illustrations are by Noma Bar.
To date the book has been translated into 19 languages and sold over 750,000 copies. Brave New World won two D&AD pencils, The Wallpaper Design Award and the Design Museum Visitor Award for their work on Chineasy.
