The Grey Gardens campaign for Red Valentino, is a tribute to ‘Grey Gardens’, a landmark 1975 documentary about the aunt and cousin of Jackie Kennedy-Onassis who lived together in a time warp of decaying grandeur on Long Island.
As a tribute to the lost, Gatsby-like glamour of the Hamptons between the wars, the Grey Gardens campaign is shot in an opulent English country manor. Devised by Creative Director, Crispin Jameson, art directed by Julie Rubio and photographed by Sarah Elisabeth Blais, the campaign has echoes of the Jazz Age, with the feeling of a parallel 1920s. The subtle styling by Camilla Pole hints, via the humming-bird and floral prints, that the elegant manor will eventually return to an exotic and untamed wilderness.
